

Matthew J. Evans is a distinguished figure in the performing arts, whose expertise as an international artist and educator has been showcased on stages worldwide. His innovative designs have captivated audiences in Kazakhstan, Russia, China, Bermuda, and across the United States.
Matthew serves as the Boll Theatre Operations Manager and Technical Director at the University of Dayton, a top-tier Catholic research university known for its commitment to service and leadership in the community. Matthew supervises and leads all work related to production activity associated with university events and productions on the University of Dayton campus. Classes that Matthew has taught include lighting design, theatre appreciation, scenic painting, stagecraft, engineering for the performing arts, technical production, design concepts, sound design, and stage management.
In addition to his role at the university, Matthew is integral to the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC), known for its exceptional artistry and community engagement. Founded in 1968 by Jeraldyne Blunden in Dayton, Ohio, it’s the oldest modern dance company in Ohio and one of the largest of its kind between Chicago and New York City. As their Director of Production and Lighting Director, he contributes to DCDC’s mission of bringing phenomenal artistry to the stage and the community. DCDC is celebrated for its rich history and dedication to the African-American experience and cultural heritage, marking over 50 years of excellence in dance and arts education.
