

Matthew J. Evans is an internationally recognized artist, educator, lighting designer, production manager, and technical director whose creative vision has transformed stages worldwide. From Kazakhstan to Bermuda, and from China to communities across the United States, his scenic, lighting, and audio designs bring theatrical storytelling to life.
Matthew currently serves as Technical Director for the Roger Glass Center for the Arts and as Boll Theatre Operations Manager and Technical Directorin Dayton, Ohio. His expertise spans theatre, opera, dance, and live events, where his environments elevate the audience experience.
Classes Matthew has taught include lighting design, theatre appreciation, scenic painting, stagecraft, engineering for the performing arts, technical production, design concepts, sound design, and stage management.
In addition to his role at the university, Matthew is integral to the Dayton Contemporary Dance Company (DCDC), one of the country’s most acclaimed modern dance companies. In this role, he contributes to DCDC’s powerful performances and its community-focused mission, which is rooted in the African American experience.
He is also an active member of IATSE Local 66 and has collaborated with regional theatres nationwide.
